John Hemsley Ropes & Lifting Equipment are a family run business established in 1983 with a long history of the wire rope industry and its integral working components. Through the years we have expanded the business to encompass all relevant areas of the lifting and industry covering fibre rope, webbing and chain slings, all manufactured at our Tyseley premises.

The core component of the company remains the wire rope sector, which covers large diameter wires for the offshore industry to small cord ropes for the entertainment world. We cover a diverse range of Industry sectors including

Construction – Industrial – Offshore – Marine – Mining – Aviation – Entertainment and specialist Lifting Companies.

Its philosophy being the manufacturing of slings within the time scale requested and within the tolerance required, together with all harmonised standards.

The company has a wealth of experience of the wire rope industry and can identify most wire rope configurations and constructions required for specific applications. We have the resources to manufacture these specifications. Within this remit John Hemsley Ltd have created a niche in the market within the UK, having the facility to manufacture cable laid grommet slings and hand spliced (short and long) to Board of Trade Regulations.

The company has 7 hydraulic presses comprising of 1 x 1000 tonne press, 3 x 300 tonne presses, 1 x 150 tonne press and 2 portable presses.

For the manufacture of tailored slings, we have one test bed and 1 fuse and tapering machine within the work place.
